With the Oakland A’s now fully established at Quigley Stadium, the talent came rushing back to the ballpark for the 1982 season, thanks to terrific efforts of Jim Bennett, who would never make the Major Leagues but would put up the best stats ever for West Haven. Bennett woud hit 22 2Bs, a Quigley record 29 HRs, a record 115 RBIs and steal 24 bases while batting .278. Future Giants’ Mike Woodard (54 SB, .273), future A’s Rusty McNealy (39 SB, .310) and Dennis Sherow (31 SB, .304) meanwhile proved that this team had some very fast feet as the 1982 West Haven A’s stole over 200 bases. The rotation meanwhile featured future Oakland A’s pitcher and 13 year MLB veteran Bill Krueger (15-9, 2.83), future SF Giants’ Chuck Hensley (10-4, 3.91), Louis Marietta (11-6, 3.31) and future San Diego Padres’ Keith Comstock (9-5, 3.02). Brian Abraham also contributed mightly out of the pen going 12-4, 2.81.
