Because this ballpark was one of the first in the new line of stadiums, it came before the trend towards the retro ballpark. That much is obvious just by looking at it. To be honest, i'm not so sure that is a bad thing. As maligned as this ballpark was, there are way to many retro ballparks on this planet now. They are in fact, the new "cookie cutter", nicer than the original multi-purpose doughnut stadiums of the 1960's and 1970's... but so overdone to the point of being a very tired concept.
