The Babe's numbers were staggering. From 1915 til 1919, Babe Ruth had compiled a record of 87-45. He was a 23 game winner in 1916 and a 24 game winner in 1917. His ERA's during this 5 year span were: 2.44, 1.75, 2.01, 2.22 and 2.97. His career ERA was 2.27. It wasn't until 1918, that the Red Sox began to realize that as incredible of a pitcher as the Babe was, his real talents had yet to be discovered.
