By season's end, the Mariners had won an unprecidented 116 games! Unfortunately,
despite being practically unbeatable in the regular season, the Mariners weren't
very good in the post season. The Indians put up a great fight and nearly knocked
the Mariners out in the first round. The team rebounded however and won the
ALDS. In the ALCS... it was those damn Yankees again... and sadly, just like
they had in 1995 and 2000, the Mariners lost the 2001 ALCS to New York in 5 games.
It was the third time that the Mariners had made it to the 2nd round of the
playoffs... and the third time that the Yankees denied them the World Series. |
