With the ballpark now fully broken in from the partial 1999 season, the Mariners
were looking forward to their first full season at the new ballpark... one in which
they could now relax at their new home and simply play good ball. Ken Griffey
Jr., who was such a major part of the Mariners' past era at the Kingdome would
not be coming to Safeco Field and instead went to Cincinnati (where he would
never come close to being the player he was in Seattle). Still... the Mariners
had tremendous talent as A-Rod, Edgar Martinez, John Olerud, Jay Buhner, Ricky
Henderson and Mike Cameron would take the team back to the playoffs. |
