Photograph of Babe Ruth courtesy of Ed Pippenger Manager Mike Kelley took over the team and handed the managerial reigns to former Tigers SS Donie Bush. Bush had been managing the Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates the past few seasons. Kelley put together an incredible new team including an absolute coup, as they signed the incredible Joe "Unser Choe" Hauser. Hauser was a monster hitter one of the best ever in Major League Baseball. The reason he wasn't a household name today is because he always finished 2nd in the league in home runs never 1st to Babe Ruth (shown here making one of many visits to Nicollet). Hauser had to leave Major League Baseball after cracking his knee cap in half during an exhibition game; (Quite a shame for the Athletics, but great for the Millers). |
