As the trains would rumble past througout the game, Sherman Field was an instant hit with the city of Lincoln. Before 1947, Lincoln teams had been playing at Landis Field at 2nd and P. That ballfield has since been torn down and according to Bruce Esser, is now a Men's homeless shelter. Nothing remains of the original field.
