The Fort Smith Giants had been a "middle of the pack team" in attendance drawing 60,000 fans in 1949. After the move to Enid, the Giants only drew 40,000, 2nd to last in the league. Enid would finish the season with a 71-63 record (.530) in 4th... 18 games out of 1st. It was good enough to make the playoffs. The top team in the league had been the Joplin Miners who had the best player in the league... Mickey Mantle and Mickey would come to play at this ballpark often throughout the long season. While Mantle led in almost every category, Enid's Manager Harold Kollar actually beat the "Mick" in Homers hitting 27 while Mantle hit only 26.
