The Western League itself would fold soon after, but begin again in 1947. Part of the league's resurrection focused on the resurrgance of Omaha as a home for professional baseball. Only problem was, there was no new stadium. There was however, much talk about a new tremendous ballpark by the city council. This was enough for the Western League to place a team in Omaha. The Omaha Cardinals (a St. Louis franchise) began play in 1947... playing here in Council Bluffs Iowa. The Cardinals would play for 2 season at ALPark, until Rosenblatt Stadium was finally completed in 1949 (today home to the NCAA World Series & the Triple-A Royals).
