Rochester however wasn't so lucky. They were drawing only 1/2 that amount at beautiful Mayo Field... built with money from the Mayo Brothers who would go on to build the famed hospital, the Mayo Clinic. Halfway through the season, it was announced that the Kansas City Athletics had given up on Rochester and were looking to move. They set their sights on Winona's  Gabrych Park. On June 29th, the Rochester A's moved to Winona and became the Winona A's. Gene Gabrych Park had finally become an official affiliated Minor League stadium.
