The Senators would only stay for one season before moving onto Midland in 1957. That was fine with the Sports, who continued on as a co-op team. The Sports played good baseball all season, and while their record wasn't as good as the previous year, their 73-52 record easily took 1st place. The star of the team was John Spicuzza who led the league in RBI with 193, hits with 180 and batting average at .388. There was much upheaval in the league with teams moving and folding. The playoffs were cancelled and the Sports were named  Southwest League Champions.
