The Travelers had just come off a winning season in which they would not make the playoffs, but left many believing they were the better team in the league. 113,000 fans came to say goodbye to Kavanaugh Field in 1931 and watch possibly the Southern Association's best team finish in second. The team took the field in 1932 in this fabulous new ballpark, and played well... about average. Finishing in 3rd just above .500, the fans came to the ballpark but not with the gusto anticipated. Probably due to the great depression which was starting to really let its presence be felt. The Travelers  drew 77k for the season.
