In 1977 Mike Scott returned going 14-10 with a 2.92 ERA. He was joined in the rotation by Juan Berenguer (9-8 3.43). In '78 the Mets had finally made the playoffs as many future NY Mets superstars came to Jackson. Mookie Wilson played his first Double-A ball at Smith-Wills Stadium and fell in love with the area… and one of Jackson's girls. He got married at home plate. (There would be 12 marriages at home plate throughout the Jackson Mets era). Mookie Wilson would hit 13 doubles, 15 triples, 7 homers, 38 SB and bat .292. Kelvin Chapman would hit 23 doubles, steal 41 and bat .266. Hubie Brooks meanwhile hit .216.
