Jackson's new Mets were a decent team in 1975 finishing with a 65-65 record, and taking 4th place. They would finish in 4th or 5th place every season until 1982. In 1978 however, the Texas League playoffs became a 2 round, 4 team system, so finishing in 4th place really wasn't so bad. Bob Myrick would be the player to make the biggest impact on the Majors from the '75 season. It was in 1976 that the Italian Stallion came to Jackson, as Brooklyn's Lee Mazzilli led the team with 21 doubles, 13 homers, 28 Stolen Bases and a .292 average. Future Cy Young, Mike Scott also made his debut going 3-3 with a 2.86 ERA.
