…and just like that, it was all gone. In 2000, the Houston Astros announced that they would move their Double-A franchise from Jackson's Smith Wills Stadium to the newly built Dell Diamond in the untested market of Round Rock Texas, just north of Austin. Along with it, they would be taking the Texas League who announced their intention not to return to Smith Wills Stadium. Jackson was suddenly abandoned by Minor League Baseball. The move to Round Rock would prove to be one of the most successful moves in the history of Minor League Baseball. Every 10 days, the Round Rock Express would easily draw what Jackson would normally do over the course of a full season.
