The 1946 Sports, while backed by Chicago, weren't good at all and finished in 7th place. Chicago left Shreveport for the last time after the season ended, and the Sports would go on as a co-op for the next 11 years. Even without the White Sox backing, the Sports were a pretty good team. Behind Salty Parker, they would make the playoffs again in 1948 and 1949. When Mickey Livingston took over the club in 1952, he led them to their second Championship season.
