SPAR Stadium was built in 1935 and had served the city of Shreveport for 5 decades as its home for professional baseball, until it was taken out of commission in 1986. It was replaced by a new ballpark named Fairgrounds Field, built adjacent to I- 20. SPAR Stadium (then known as Texas League Park) was created to replace Beidenharn Sports Park which burned down in 1932. Shreveport still continued to host teams between 1933 and 1935, but was unstable due to not having a true ballpark to play at, with the teams moving mid-season to other cities during those years.
