The Oilers came back in 1949 winning 90 games behind Manager Al Vincent. Tulsa was beginning to peak. Attendance was over 100,000 fans and growing steadily. Russell Burns drove in a league leading and Tulsa record of 153 RBI and led the team to the final round of the playoffs, There they would finally win their 2nd title at Oiler Park. They would try a repeat in 1950 but lost in the final round to the San Antonio Missions. The team began to flounder for the next few seasons, finishing under .500. The only excitement was Johnny Vander Meer coming to town and throwing a no-hitter in the final days of his pro career.
