Tulsa County Stadium opened up to rave reviews in 1934. The ballpark replaced the old Fairgrounds where Tulsa Minor League teams had been playing since 1930. The ballpark was a huge concrete structure made to stand up for decades... probably because older Athletic Park in Tulsa had given way and collapsed injuring many fans in the late 1910s. The Tulsa Oilers began play here as a co-op franchise and played that way for 7 seasons from 1934-1939.
