In 1995, The Yankees (who had been playing at Ft. Lauderdale), moved operations to
the west coast of Tampa (George Steinbrenner's home). The Orioles took advantage
of the vacancy. They had always played on the southeast coast of Miami. While
St. Pete offered good amenties for them, they prefered to be close to their
original Miami home. They left for Ft. Lauderdale in 1996. |
