The return of the Cubs and the White Sox harkened back to an earlier era when many teams... in fact most baseball franchises, spurned Florida and Arizona as Spring Training facilities for something quite different... hot springs. Hot Springs Arkansas for example, was a popular Spring Training destination as nearly every Major League franchise at one time or another would train on one of the town's 3 baseball stadiums. Then it was an all night soaking in the hot springs and tubs at the hotels that featured the supposedly "remarkable medical qualities" of the spring water... hopefully keeping the players in top shape for the rest of the upcoming season. Soon it seemed nearly every community with a hot springs would attract Major League Baseball and West Baden/French Lick Hot Springs was no exception.
