The Brooklyn Dodgers had long been enjoying their Spring Training days in the months of February and March. From 1923 until 1940, the Dodgers had based their Spring Training camp out of Green Field in Clearwater Florida (with the exception of 1933-1935 when they played at Tinker Field in Orlando and Miami's Tatum Field). They began to really explore new territory during the 1941 and 1942 seasons when they went abroad… training at La Tropical Stadium in Havana Cuba when it was the ultimate vacation destination. All that would change however in 1943 as WWII put an end to the Dodgers' luxurious Spring Training ritual.
