The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland returned in 1896 after the "coast was clear" and they would both find that the accommodations around Hot Springs were excellent, the ballpark was well made, and the players rather enjoyed the rather luxurious hot spring baths. The treatments and soakings not only made for some good rejuvenation after a day at the ballpark... but gave a certain pampered feeling of celebrity as well. Various teams after watching the Pirates' new tool in conditioning their players, would make
the pilgrimage to this ballpark for their regular Spring Training regiments. Soon it got so overcrowded, more ballfields needed to be quickly erected.
