Chicago and Minnesota would made this their training ground in 1897 and in 1898-1899... Cleveland returned once again with their superstar Cy Young. The turn of the century brought St. Louis back yet again and in 1901, the Pirates would finally make this their regular home and they would remain here for 15 years. from 1901 until 1916. By 1908, Detroit and New York had been lured to the so called healing qualities of the springs as they joined Pittsburgh here at Whittington Park. The 3 team training ground quickly made this quite an over-utilized ballfield and when the Red Sox announced that they were coming to town in 1909, it was time to for them to go find another new home.
