Hoover Metropolitan Stadium couldn't be any more different than Rickwood Field. While Rickwood is steeped in tradition and features some of the most amazing baseball stadium architecture of its kind at a time when the game was still in its infancy, Hoover Met is a modern sleek stadium meant to bring baseball into the 21st century. The blue seating against white concrete, is actually surprisingly attractive. This is no retro ballpark, and we appreciate that more than anyone. The "retro" ballpark has been cloned so often, we feel a larger disdain
for it than we do for the infamous "donut parks" of the MLB 70's-90's. So why didn't this striking baseball stadium work?
