Hank Aaron Stadium was named after one of Mobile's favorite sons. The man who would set the all time HR mark was a Mobile native, along with 4 other outstanding Mobile residents… Hall of Famers,Willie McCovey, Satchel Paige, Billy Williams and Ozzie Smith. The stadium is located on Bolling Brothers Drive. The Bolling Brothers were two brothers (Milt and Frank) who played for the Negro Leagues and each were tops in their divisions. Milt and Frank Bolling were also elected to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. Hank Aaron's namesake stadium seats 6,000 fans … the regulatory size of a Double-A stadium and serves the AA Southern League. When the ballpark first opened, it hosted the Double-A San Diego Padres franchise who moved to Mobile from Memphis' Tim McCarver Stadium. The team was dubbed the Mobile "BayBears" referring to both Mobile's beautiful bayside setting and in homage to Mobile's historic franchise, the "Mobile Bears" who played at old Hartwell Field for 27 years.
