Greenville Municipal Stadium was built in 1984 out of a bowl. In order to enter the ballpark you have to enter from the top of the grandstand and walk down to your seats, much like Winston Salem's Ernie Shore Field or Dodger Stadium. Municipal Stadium ended a 12 year drought of professional baseball in Greenville. Old Meadowbrook Park had caught fire in 1972, and sent the last Greenville team packing. The introduction of Municipal Stadium in 1984, brought the Atlanta Braves to town, and the team enjoyed immediate success.
