That would mean that the Hornets began playing here as members of the Washington Senators organization in 1941 and 1942. After breaking for a few years due to World War II (though the Piedmont League was still one of the leagues that continued to play throughout this time… Charlotte and Winston-Salem both dropped out), the Charlotte Hornets continued on as members of the Washington Senators organization. They would start with a new league however… the Class B Tri-State League. The "Tri-States" were North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, running parallel to the Class B Piedmont League. The Tri-State League lasted from 1946 until 1955 when it ceased operations.
