Where the gridiron comes together here sort of marks the spot where homeplate was located and how the lines went out, though they hugged the stadium a little more than this gridiron does. Upon the completion of the stadium in 1922, Cramton Bowl immediately caught the attention of Major League Baseball and the Philadelphia Athletics. The A's had been training in Eagle Pass Texas and were looking for a new, location to hold their exhibition games. In 1923, the Philadelphia Athletics moved their spring training site officially to Cramton Bowl, where they spent two seasons before moving to the newly built Terry Park in Fort Myers Florida.
