Because of these additions and add-ons, Spooner Field isn't one cohesive ballpark but a series of sections and picnic areas and bleachers which combine to make a larger ballpark. While the ballpark is hardly going to win any beauty contests, the variety of seating areas are interesting enough to give this ballpark quite a bit of character. Looking down at the the lower level seating behind the plate with awnings on each side... this is a rather unique looking facility which is very important to us. This is a good thing as, once the Pelicans made this their full time home in 2003, they would
remain here for the remaining 8 years of their lives... quite a bit of time for a collegiate ballpark to serve in a professional capacity. Their successes were enough that eventually, it would lead to Affiliated Minor League Baseball making a triumphant return to this city.
