It wasn't until 2002 when a new upstart Independent League called the Southeastern
League began play, that Pensacola would finally see the spotlight again. The
Southeastern League began looking for cities to play in that had not seen professional
baseball in years. It's 6 inaugural franchises were located in Montgomery
Alabama, Ozark Alabama, Selma Alabama, Americus Georgia, Baton Rouge Louisiana
and here at Pirate Field in Pensacola. |
