Astonishingly, after supporting Minor League Baseball for 35 years… the loss of the A-FL League brought a complete end to Pensacola professional baseball for 40 years. Admiral Mason Park went dark for 20 years before it was finally demolished in 1983. Despite the tremendous history that Pensacola had with professional baseball, it would go completely ignored by the Double-A Southern League, Single-A Florida State League and Single-A South Atlantic Leagues which all had a shared jurisdiction over the area.
