When the Anderson Rangers moved to Asheville's McCormick Field in 1977, it signaled the end of professional baseball at Anderson Memorial Stadium for 3 years. It wasn't until 1980 when the Braves moved their South Atlantic League franchise from Greenwood South Carolina's Legion Field to Anderson Memorial Stadium, that Anderson would enjoy its first long term PDC. The hometown Atlanta Braves signed up for a 5 year deal. Some stability had finally come to Anderson Memorial Stadium.
