The NCAA Division II Anderson University Trojans would take over the ballpark after the Braves moved out. There were many attempts to bring an independent league to this ballpark especially around 2003. Miles Wolfe attempted to start a new league called the "Peachtree League" while Lipp and Digitalballparks' Eric Pastore attempted to recreate the old Piedmont League. Both indy leagues focused on Anderson Memorial Stadium as their centerpoint. Neither league however would come to fruition (The future Piedmont League's ballparks were damaged by Hurricane Isabel). Anderson would remain without a professional suitor.
