While Atlanta was sporting some future Hall of Famers, some were also stopping by for a few games. These photographs of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig were taken at Ponce De Leon Park on the Yankees usual stop over, on the way from Spring Training to New York. The famed Ponce De Leon magnolia tree stood 450 feet away from homeplate, and the tree was in play (so if the ball got stuck in the tree... keep running!). Only 2 players however were actually ever reported to hit the landmark. Babe Ruth not surprisingly was one of them. The other was future Hall of Fame Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta Brave... Eddie Matthews. (He was the only one to play for all three in case you're wondering).
