There was no cause for alarm. The Red Sox wouldn't play a single game at Capital City. Instead the organization immediately moved the team to Greenville Municipal Stadium in time for the 2005 season. Greenville was far too valuable of a market to lose. For 20 years 1984-2003 Greenville had never had a season under 200,000 fans. It was only in these final seasons that attendance began to fall. The team drew 187,000 in 2004 and in 2005... a mear 115,000.
