The Bears had a much better showing in 1951 as they put together a good 70-55 record (.560), and made the playoffs behind Harry Raulerson who led the league with 22 wins and a 1.99 ERA. Raulerson was strong enough to lead the team past the Albany Cardinals and into the finals against Tifton. It took only 5 games for Waycross to beat the Tifton Blue Sox in the seven game series and win their first GFL Championship.
