The Macon Peaches were the first team to play in the Southern League in 1930. None of the teams in the league had any affiliation to a Major League team. Their first full season at Luther Williams Field was an excellent one, with the team finishing in 1st place with an 87-52 record. They would lose in the finals, but the Peaches had certainly made an immediate mark in their new ballpark. Unfortunately the Southern League (SALLY) would suspend operations for a few seasons at the end of the year.
