Orlando Merced hit .265 on his way to a very respectable 13 year Major League career. It was their left fielder however who would become the biggest star that Augusta would see for decades. At the ripe old age of 21, 1st round draft pick Moises Alou hit .313 with 23 doubles, 7 homers and 24 stolen bases for Augusta. In 2008, 20 years later… Moises Alou was still playing professional baseball for the New York Mets.
