When baseball finally returned to Augusta after a lengthy absence of 25 years, fans greeted it with curiosity at first and then apathy. 123,000 showed up to the Pirates inaugural season. Many who didn't go are probably kicking themselves now, considering the talent that showed up on the field. Shortstop Carlos Garcia hit .290 before going on to a 10 year Major League career as the shortstop of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
