Cougar Stadium was built in 1990 by the Burger King Corporation and Schuster Enterprises (owners of the Burger King franchising for Columbus Georgia). They created this stadium grandstand for the Columbus State University Cougars baseball team. Burger King also provided the lighting for the ballpark "as a gesture of friendship and sincere thanks to Columbus College for the contributions made to our community by her students"... as stated on a plaque outside the ballpark.
