Lake Olmstead Stadium was built to replace Heaton Stadium… a quickly "thrown together" ballpark that was quite typical of a late-1980's facility… wood, aluminum and some spare parts that could be easily found at any Home Depot. The ugly little ballpark served Augusta for 7 years seasons, until it was torn down in 1994. Lake Olmstead Stadium blossomed in its footprint. This ballfield has served both stadiums and has been in constant use since 1988.
