Before Stade Municipal was built, Quebec's Athletics and other semi-pro teams played here at the Hippodrome. Right in the middle of the horse racing infield, a diamond was set up, and fans would come to the horse track to watch the game. While this may seem rather odd, it actually isn't. Before the 1940's it wasn't all that uncommon for Canadian and American professional teams to utilize horse racing grandstands and their infields for professional baseball.
