Pioneer League (Rookie)

The Pioneer League first began service in 1939 as a Class C affiliated Minor League, with 6 teams in Boise, Lewiston, Ogden, Pocatello, Salt Lake City and Twin Falls. After a break for the war, the League restarted service in 1946. The League was evenutally reclassified as a Rookie League during the 1960s. Despite the rookie status, the Pioneer League is known throughout the world for its ballparks. The reason is simple. The Pioneer League is based in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains, so the ballparks of the P.L. are known for having the best mountain views ever seen in baseball.
