Portsmouth's Frank D. Lawrence Stadium was built in 1936 and was home to the Class
B Piedmont, Double-A Southern (then called South Atlantic), Single-A Carolina
and Triple-A International Leagues, meaning that the stadium has served all levels
of Minor League Baseball from Single-A through Triple-A. The facility was
meant to host both Football and Baseball and had a significant football grandstand
that ran along the outfield along with its baseball configuration. |
