In 1984 the Edmonton Trappers, in their first year as members of the California Angels organization, would beat the Hawaii Islanders and take their first Pacific Coast League Championship. The Trappers wouldn't get another chance until 1990, when they faced the Albuquerque Dukes. They would lose all 3 games to the Dukes and wouldn't win another championship until after John Ducey Park was demolished.
