Luckily for Indians' fans, the city of Seattle gave Klepper permissions to use Civic Stadium as their new home. This so called "ballpark" however, had plenty of issues. Players would often be hurt from sliding on the hard sun baked ground, as Civic Stadium was said to have one of the hardest infields of all professional baseball at any level. Some likened it to sliding on concrete. Lighting stanchions meanwhile were not on top of the stadium or in back of the field, but actually on the infield which made seating quite difficult because there were plenty of obscured views.
