In 1992 without any notice, the Mayor of Salt Lake City declared Derks Field condemned and evicted the Trappers and began to demolish Derks Field (though was nothing really wrong with the facility). The Salt Lake Trappers fled to Pocatello before returning to Ogden a year later. The Mayor began to build Franklin Covey Field a modern styled ballpark, that is very similar in structure to many of the newest Major League Baseball stadiums. Wrought iron is apparent throughout the ballpark, and it is typical of the retro style of dark green seat and red brick that seems to be apparent in every new facility being built today.
