North Atlantic League Independent / Non Affiliated (1995-1996) |
The North Atlantic League was one of the first independent leagues to pop up during
the Indy craze of the mid-1990's. All over America, everyone was following in
the footprints of the new Northern and Frontier Leagues... trying to bring independent
baseball to the ballparks and cities forgotten by affiliated Minor League
Baseball. This league lasted only 2 seasons but many of the teams and stadiums
that were used for this league, would be utilized again by the Atlantic and
Can-Am (Northeast) Leagues. |

The League intended to return in 1997 with 3 new teams located in: Long Island New York (Long Island Anglers) Cumberland Maryland (Garrett County Raiders) New Castle Pennsylvania (New Castle Fireworks) \The New Castle team would have played at Flaherty Field (former home of the New Castle Nats - 1948-1951 Mid Atlantic League). We're not sure what ballparks the Long Island Anglers and Garrett County Raiders were proposed to play at. Anyone with information on these other 3 teams, please contact us at digital@digitalballparks.com |
