After being on top of their game for 4 straight years, things began to come crashing down all over for St. Cloud. Rox Park was sold to a developer who turned the beloved ballpark into a Shopko Supermarket. A new ballpark was built called Dick Putz Field that wasn't exactly ready for the 1971 season. It wouldn't matter as two more teams dropped out of the Northern League leaving St. Cloud and Aberdeen as the only remaining teams. Unable to operate as a 2 team system, the Northern League folded after the 1971 season.
